Associate Director role

Position Description:

Informing Change is looking for an Associate Director to join their team. Informing Change’s strength comes from our team-based approach. You would be joining an organization of individuals who draw on one another’s diverse skill sets, perspectives, and expertise to turn data into insights and action for our clients. What we are looking for?:

You have at least ten years of professional experience designing and managing mixed methods evaluations and strategic planning processes for and with philanthropic and nonprofit organizations in the social sector. You are an experienced consultant with a successful record in identifying and networking with potential clients and generating new business. You will complement a team of professionals with various strengths, experiences, and types of expertise.

The primary responsibilities of this position are:

  • To lead project work focused on equity in various content areas e.g. education, youth engagement, health, leadership etc.
  • Direct teams in conducting multiple client engagements.
  • To support the company’s strategic growth with new business development.
  • Experience with developing new business and comfort with networking.
  • Experience writing for a range of audiences including boards, organization leadership and staff, and communities
  • Experience using information for purposes of problem-solving and decision-making, preferably in the nonprofit or philanthropic sectors
  • Experience with community engagement, participatory research, and facilitation both in person and virtually.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and engagement with diverse communities of color
  • Experience supervising staff and leading teams

Additional Responsibilities:

Business Development/ Project Work

  • Design and direct evaluation, applied research, and strategy development projects.
  • Collaborate with company leadership to establish business development goals.
  • Develop and support the acquisition of new client work.
  • Lead multiple project teams with various staff members.
  • Design and facilitate client meetings and presentations.
  • Maintain and support high-quality standards for all work products.
  • Manage client relationships.
  • Contribute to the company’s marketing efforts
  • Ability to travel locally and nationally (contingent upon post-Covid restrictions) 6-12 trips a year.

Strategic Thought Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership to enhance Informing Change’s position in the social sector field.
  • Build extensive professional networks and develop trusted relationships with existing/new/prospective clients.
  • Develop strategic partnerships to create new collaborations for Informing Change.
  • Supervise and develop staff members.

Technical Skills

  • Strong writer. Produce reports for presentation, publication and distribution.
  • Expert in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Experienced with community engagement, participatory research, and facilitation.
  • Able to identify and share data and findings in an approachable and digestible manner.
  • Experienced in leading teams and managing clients.
  • Advanced degree or relevant experience in education, public policy, public administration, public health, sociology, anthropology, or a related discipline

Compensation & Logistics

  • Salary range is $130,000 - $135,000 annually.
  • Full medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Voluntary 401(k) plan with company match.
  • Informing Change has a hybrid office model where California Bay Area staff are strongly encouraged to work in our Berkeley office twice a week on set days to facilitate team collaboration and communication. U.S. based remote staff will be considered, but are strongly encouraged to travel to our Berkeley office once a quarter for in-person office work and special events, e.g. our staff retreat and holiday party at your own expense. Core working hours for all staff, regardless of location, are 9 am – 5 pm Pacific Time.
  • All staff are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated against Covid-19. Staff who are not vaccinated must wear a N-95 mask for their own and others’ protection when in the office and at in-person staff events.
